For centuries, astrologers have struggled with one of horary astrology’s greatest challenges: accurate timing. We can often determine if something will happen, but when has remained frustratingly elusive. Traditional methods relying on the Moon’s aspects, planetary days, or symbolic time rulers have produced inconsistent results at best.
After 35 years of practice and recording thousands of cases, I’ve discovered a method that transforms timing from symbolic guesswork into mathematical certainty. This isn’t just another technique — it’s a fundamental principle that reveals how events manifest in time through celestial geometry.
Every event has a mathematical signature in the horary chart. The time until an event occurs corresponds precisely to the time required for the querent’s planetary significator to reach the event’s destination point in the zodiac.
I call this The Geometric Principle of Event Manifestation:
An event manifests at the exact moment when the angular separation between the querent’s planet and the event’s destination planet reaches zero through their natural motion.
Here’s the precise calculation method:
T = (A / |v₁ - vₓ|) × k
Where:
First, determine which two planets to track:
Example: “When will I reach Mr. X’s house?”
Test 1: The Retrograde Rule
If any or both of Lord 1 and Destination Lord is retrograde → Event will NOT occur as desired.
Why? Retrograde motion represents reversal or withdrawal. If you’re going backward (L₁ retrograde), you won’t reach the destination. If the destination is moving away (Lₓ retrograde), it’s not available to you.
Test 2: The Speed Rule
If Lord 1 is BEHIND the Destination Lord AND Lord 1’s speed ≤ Destination Lord’s speed or If Destination Lord is BEHIND the Lord 1 AND Destination Lord’s speed ≤ Lord 1’s speed→ Event is IMPOSSIBLE.
Why? This is a mathematical certainty. If you’re behind something and moving equal or slower, you’ll never catch it.
When Lord 1 is behind but faster:
T = (Distance) / (Your Speed - Their Speed) × k
Example: You (X at 1.5°/day) chasing Y (1.2°/day) with 12° separation:
T = 12 / (1.5–1.2) = 12 / 0.3 = 40 days
When Lord 1 is ahead and slower:
The destination planet must catch up to YOU. This often means waiting.
When a planet stations (speed ≈ 0°/day):
Q: What if the planets are in different signs?
A: Calculate angular distance through the zodiac. From 29° Aries to 1° Taurus is 2°.
Q: How do I get accurate planetary speeds?
A: Use an ephemeris or astrology software. Current speed matters more than average speed.
Q: What about aspects other than conjunction?
A: Conjunction is primary for “reaching” or “meeting.” For other events (arguments = square, agreements = trine), use the aspect’s applying point.
Q: Can free will change the outcome?
A: The chart shows what WILL happen if current trajectories continue. Conscious intervention changes the trajectories, which would show in a new chart.
Try this yourself:
Question: “When will I hear back about the loan?”
Calculate:
Prediction: Loan decision in about 20 weeks.
This Geometric Principle represents a paradigm shift in horary astrology. We’re no longer interpreting symbols — we’re calculating celestial mechanics. The planets become gears in a cosmic clock, and your question reveals how many turns of those gears until your event strikes.
The formula T = (A / |v₁ - vₓ|) × k is more than mathematics; it's a key to understanding how time unfolds through planetary motion. The retrograde and speed rules provide immediate clarity about what's possible and what's not.
For 35 years, this method has guided my practice with remarkable accuracy. It transforms timing from astrology’s weakest link into its most precise tool. Whether you’re predicting a meeting in hours or a career change in years, this geometric approach offers clarity where traditional methods offer only ambiguity.
The cosmos speaks in geometry. We need only learn to calculate its language.
